When I first stumbled across implementing sound to captured game footage I became so fascinated in creating sounds to match the type of game whether is was your average first person shooter to out of the ordinary bizarre games.

My first step was to review the footage and story plot. Generalizing what the story is about than reference to the original sounds to the game.

Earlier projects such as Halo Reach was a learning curve as I used very basic sounds such as firearms, footsteps, grunts and so forth but it was missing so much potential.

As time went by and I began to do more projects I focused on filling in the empty areas of each game footage.

  • Used free sounds from online resources, layered additional sounds to give a more presences in the sounds.

  • Using everyday household and garage items to sample. Taking the raw audio and importing them into my DAW for post production of the sounds. I than would incorporate them into the videos.

  • In some cases if their was a sound I needed and could not find online or record from home I would than experiment with build in plug-ins to create necessary sounds I felt would be suitable for the game.
